SDG 2 : Zero Hunger

End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture

Student hunger

Universitas Indonesia is committed to providing sustainable food options for everyone on campus, including food for vegetarians and vegans. The UI Campus Canteen provides a variety of food choices, including for vegetarians. Almost all UI Campus Canteen tenants can serve UI residents and guests from outside campus with a vegetarian and vegan diet by not ordering side dishes made from meat and processed livestock. There are several special canteen tenants that can be the choice of UI residents and guests with vegetarian and vegan diets, such as canteen tenants of gado-gado, pecel, toast, grilled banana, fruit salad, and vegetable salad as well as various fruit juices.

National hunger

The University of Indonesia is committed to prioritizing purchasing products from sustainable, local sources. The food menus in the UI Campus Canteen are generally local and Indonesian traditional food served fresh. Most of the food ingredients used are local food products. Food ingredients are obtained and purchased from local markets around the cities of Depok, Bogor, and DKI Jakarta. Food ingredients in local markets are supplied from agricultural, plantation, livestock, and fisheries areas in cities on the island of Java. Most of the food menus served at the UI Campus Canteen tenants are food that must be served fresh, so it is more practical to buy food from closer places for reasons of freshness and does not require a preservation process.
