Background

The Asian Conference on Safety & Education in Laboratory or abbreviated as ACSEL, is an annual conference organised by leading universities in Asia to provide a platform for scientists, engineers, researchers as well as professionals in order to discuss and share the knowledge related to best practices on laboratory safety and health aspects. In 2018, the conference was held in Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Graduate University, Okinawa, Japan with a total number of 325 participants from 14 countries. This conference profitably brought a huge range of topics associated with laboratory safety. This year, we are very glad to announce that the 6th conference (ACSEL 2019) will be held in Bali, Indonesia from the 31st of October – 1st November 2019, organized by OHSE UI or UPT K3L UI, with the theme “Partnerships and Empowerment Strategies to Enhance Integrated Health & Safety and Sustainability Activities with Diversity in Research Sciences”. The conference includes both oral and poster presentation from various disciplines and backgrounds related to laboratory safety. The conference program will consist of high-profile keynote lectures, panel discussions, oral and poster sessions, and exhibitions. History of ACSEL:

The 1st International Symposium on Safety and Health Education in the University was held at Ehime University, Japan, in January 2013. We undersigned Ehime Declaration to the following;
1. We will continue to hold symposia on health and safety education in the university.
2. We will establish a network of health and safety education leaders for mutual exchange.
3. We will aim to achieve a world-class standard for health and safety education.

We have been convinced that there are a lot of issues which should be solved in laboratory safety and we should share the useful information and good examples to improve the laboratory safety in each Asian county. The 1st Asian Conference on Safety and Education in Laboratory was successfully held at The University of Tokyo, Japan.
